Put Nostalgia TV Room on your kid's home screen

Five taps in Safari give your iPhone or iPad a rainbow TV icon. Your kid taps it and the cartoons open full screen, just like an app. No App Store, no account, and it's free.

iPhone and iPad (Safari)

  1. Open the site in Safari

    Open Safari (the blue compass) and go to nostalgiatvroom.com/watch.

    It has to be Safari. Other browsers on iPhone can't add web apps the same way.

  2. Tap the ⋯ button, then Share

    The three dots are next to the address bar at the bottom. A menu pops up. Tap Share.

    Older iPhones and iPads show a Share button right away: a square with an arrow pointing up . On iPhone it's at the bottom; on iPad it's at the top right. Tap that instead.

  3. Tap Add to Home Screen

    Swipe the list up a little until you see Add to Home Screen with a plus-in-a-square icon, then tap it.

    Don't see it? Scroll to the very bottom, tap Edit Actions, and turn it on.

  4. Keep Open as Web App on, then tap Add

    Leave the name as Nostalgia TV Room (or rename it something your kid knows, like "Cartoons"). Make sure Open as Web App is green, then tap Add at the top right.

    Older versions don't have the switch. Just tap Add.

  5. Tap the rainbow TV and watch

    The Nostalgia TV Room icon is now on the home screen. Tap it, then tap Watch! It opens full screen with no Safari bars, so little ones stay put.

    Drag the icon to the first page, or into the dock, so your kid can always find it.

Tip for keeping kids in the app: turn on Guided Access in Settings → Accessibility → Guided Access. Open Nostalgia TV Room, then triple-click the side (or home) button. The device stays locked to the cartoons until you triple-click again and enter your passcode.

Other devices

Android phone or tablet (Chrome)

  1. Open nostalgiatvroom.com/watch in Chrome.
  2. Tap the ⋮ menu at the top right.
  3. Tap Add to Home screen or Install app.
  4. Tap Install or Add.

Mac, PC or Chromebook

  1. Open nostalgiatvroom.com/watch in Chrome or Edge.
  2. Click the install icon in the address bar, or the ⋮ menu → Cast, save and share → Install.
  3. On a Mac with Safari: File → Add to Dock.
